Maintenance Technician

Salary: £52,000 (including shift allowance & bonus) + Car Scheme & Benefits

Shift Pattern: Weekend Nights – 6:00 PM to 6:00 AM (Friday, Saturday, Sunday)

Their Birmingham plant manufactures next-generation three- and four-cylinder petrol and hybrid engines, employing over 1,000 highly skilled professionals and playing a vital role in the company’s international production network.

The Role: Maintenance Technician

Maintenance Technician within a fully automated engine assembly plant, responsible for ensuring the smooth and reliable operation of a wide range of automated production machinery.

  • Carry out electro-mechanical maintenance on Conveyor Systems, Robotics, Monorails, Lifting Equipment, and Engine Assembly Machinery.
  • Respond quickly to breakdowns, diagnosing faults and replacing defective components.
  • Reduce downtime through proactive fault detection and preventive maintenance.
  • Drive continuous improvement to maximise efficiency, reliability, and throughput.
  • Utilise PLC systems, Multi-Meters, and Schematic Diagrams for advanced fault finding and troubleshooting.
  • Assist with project-based installations, commissioning, and testing of new plant machinery and systems.

Entry Requirements

  • Qualifications: City & Guilds, NVQ, or BTEC Level 3 in Engineering Maintenance, ideally gained through a recognised apprenticeship.
  • Experience: Minimum 5 years as a Maintenance Engineer within a high-speed manufacturing environment (Automotive or FMCG preferred).
  • Skills: Strong Mechanical and Electrical maintenance skills with proven fault-finding and problem-solving capabilities.
