Maintenance Engineer

Location: Coventry

Salary: £50,000 + Overtime

Shifts: 4 on 4 off Days/Nights (7:00 am – 7:00 pm / 7:00 pm – 7:00 am)

The Business

Our client is a global food manufacturer specialising in Mexican-style baked goods for the retail market. Their diverse product portfolio includes Tortillas, Wraps, Nachos, Flatbreads, Salsas, Dips, and a popular “Better for You” range of healthy, low-carb, and gluten-free products.

They have recently partnered with multiple brands in the motorsport industry, building strong links within F1, MotoAmerica, Superbike Series, and American Flat Track. Their biggest sponsors include McLaren and Vance & Hines.

With an impressive £3.3 billion annual turnover, 3,000 employees, and 30 global manufacturing sites, they’re continuing rapid expansion and are now hiring two additional shift engineers to support further growth.

The Coventry facility is one of their largest and most advanced production sites, housing a skilled team of 20 maintenance engineers alongside senior leadership, project, and technical engineers.

Machinery: High-speed systems including Conveyors, Dough Makers, Mixers, Separators, Ovens, Lifting Equipment, Robots, Cooling Towers, Packaging Machinery, Vision Inspection Systems, Case Makers, and Palletisers.

The Role: Maintenance Engineer

  • Respond to breakdowns and perform maintenance on a wide range of production and packaging machinery.
  • Mechanical: Replace gearboxes, rollers, belts, bearings, shafts, pulleys, drives, and worn parts.
  • Electrical: Replace sensors, proximity switches, motors, gearboxes, and control panel components.
  • Fault finding using PLCs, Multimeters, Schematics, and Visual Inspection.
  • Carry out PPM Maintenance including routine servicing, checks, and inspections.

Hiring Requirements

  • Qualifications: City & Guilds, NVQ, or BTEC Level 3 in Engineering Maintenance, ideally gained via a recognised apprenticeship.
  • Experience: 3–5 years as a Maintenance Engineer within a high-speed manufacturing environment — ideally Food or FMCG.
  • Skills: Strong mechanical and electrical maintenance skills, with confident fault-finding and repair ability.
